Nestled in the historic mountain community of Loretto, Pennsylvania, the Doss House is a property where history and paranormal folklore have become deeply intertwined.

 

At first glance, the house appears to be another remarkably preserved piece of early Pennsylvania history. But more than two centuries of occupants, businesses, illness, death, and changing use have left behind a location with an unusually layered past. Today, the Doss House is also associated with reports of unexplained voices, footsteps, shadow figures, equipment malfunctions, and other unusual experiences.

 

 

Iron City Paranormal visited the property not simply to look for evidence of a haunting, but to document the location, investigate the reports, and determine what could, and could not, be explained through conventional means. What follows is our investigation of the Doss House.

 

The history of the Doss House is closely connected to the history of Loretto itself. The community began taking shape near the end of the eighteenth century under the influence of Demetrius Augustine Gallitzin, the Russian-born Catholic missionary who founded the settlement in 1799. Loretto would become one of the earliest Catholic communities west of the Allegheny Mountains, and Gallitzin’s influence remains visible throughout the town today.

 

The Doss House is believed to have been constructed around 1810, placing the structure among the earliest surviving homes in the borough. Over the generations, the building served considerably more than one purpose. According to local history and accounts associated with the current owners, the property was used as a residence as well as a barber shop, doctor’s office, dental office, and undertaker’s location.

 

That history alone makes the Doss House significant. For more than two centuries, people lived, worked, became ill, sought medical treatment, died, and were cared for within the surrounding community. The building changed with the town, accumulating stories and memories with every generation.

 

 

The name “Doss House” is believed to have become associated with Adolf “Doss” Stich, a barber who operated from the building during the twentieth century and became closely connected with the property. And eventually, another chapter would be added to the building’s long history, the stories of unexplained activity. Like many historic properties, the Doss House has accumulated its share of stories.

 

One of the most frequently reported experiences is the alleged apparition of a little girl wearing a green dress. Visitors have described seeing the figure moving through portions of the house before disappearing. The basement has also become a particular area of interest. Reports include shadow-like figures, an oppressive feeling, and what has been described as a low growling sound with no immediately identifiable source. An isolated mantle located in the basement has also become an object of interest among visitors.

 

Activity has reportedly been experienced on the upper floors as well. Visitors have described hearing footsteps moving through empty bedrooms and experiencing the sensation of being watched, particularly around the staircase. There have also been reports of unexplained equipment behavior, including electronic devices malfunctioning or resetting, phones entering emergency SOS mode, unexpected battery drain, and other technological problems.

 

 

These reports are important to document, but reports alone are not evidence of a paranormal cause. That distinction is central to the way Iron City Paranormal approaches an investigation.

 

The Doss House also has a deeply personal story behind its preservation. Current owner Shawna Rigsby and her wife Danielle have spoken about their experiences with the property and their decision to preserve it following the passing of Shawna’s mother, Holley Cataldo, in 2023. What began in connection with Holley’s dream of owning an AirB’n’B ultimately developed into something much larger. The property became a place for preservation, personal healing, paranormal exploration, and community.

 

Through Unique Paranormal 1.5, the owners have opened the location to paranormal investigators and enthusiasts, helping establish the Doss House as a growing destination within Pennsylvania’s paranormal community.

 

For Iron City Paranormal, that history is important. We were not simply entering an allegedly haunted house. We were entering someone’s home, a historic structure, and a property that has been deliberately preserved. That comes with a responsibility to investigate respectfully and objectively.

 

Iron City Paranormal entered the Doss House with two goals: Document what happened and attempt to determine why it happened.

 

Our investigation included multiple areas of the property and utilized a combination of traditional paranormal equipment, audio recording, environmental observation, and direct investigation techniques. As always, equipment activation was treated as a data point rather than automatic proof of paranormal activity. A K2 meter lighting up, a flashlight turning on, a sound appearing on a recorder, or another device behaving unexpectedly does not tell us what caused the event. The cause is the question.

Pre-Investigation Walkthrough 

 

Prior to the investigation, Iron City Paranormal had become increasingly interested in the Doss House as reports of unexplained activity at the historic property continued to grow. Each subsequent visit appeared to produce additional experiences and evidence, eventually contributing to the owners’ decision to establish their own paranormal investigation team and make the property available to the public for continued research. Our investigation was conducted as part of that ongoing effort to document and better understand the activity associated with the location.

 

Upon arrival at the Doss House, the walkthrough was conducted before any formal investigative procedures began. Investigators moved through the property, familiarizing themselves with its various rooms and identifying areas that would later receive focused attention. During this initial walkthrough, both investigators independently experienced an immediate sense of being watched. The basement and barbershop were particularly uncomfortable, producing a noticeable reluctance to remain in those areas. At this stage, however, these impressions were treated strictly as personal observations rather than evidence of paranormal activity.

 

 

The walkthrough also produced the first technical anomaly of the investigation. As investigators entered the barbershop, the camera unexpectedly cut out, requiring the recording to be restarted before the investigation could continue. While equipment failure can have numerous conventional explanations and was not immediately attributed to the location, the occurrence was documented as part of the investigation’s initial observations.

 

No deliberate communication attempts were made during the walkthrough. The purpose of this phase was to establish familiarity with the environment, identify areas of interest, and distinguish initial personal impressions from events occurring during active investigation. Once the walkthrough was complete, equipment was deployed throughout the property, including static audio recorders positioned in selected areas. These unattended recorders were intentionally left running while investigators temporarily exited the building for dinner, providing an opportunity to document any sounds or activity occurring in the absence of the investigative team.

 

 

This decision would prove significant. During the period when the investigators were away from the Doss House, the static recorders captured unexplained footsteps and a distinct bell on the second floor near the children’s room. Because these recordings occurred while the building was unattended by the investigators, they became an important early component of the evidence collected during the investigation and established the first indication that activity was occurring independently of direct investigator interaction.

Recording 1 – Basement Static 1:

 

 

• Prior to the actual investigation, we left to get dinner and set recorders and cameras running during that time. There were certainly some strange things that occurred during this time frame.
• This all began with what sounded like footsteps at :05 followed by an unsettling sound of a chair moving at :14.

 

Recording 2 – Basement Static 2:

 

 

• There were multiple knocking noises captured in this clip starting at :04, continuing to  :49, and again at :57.
• A bang noise was heard at 1:08 and a heavy footfall was captured at 1:28.

 

Recording 3 – Basement Static 3:

 

 

• One final footstep was heard in the basement at :05 here.

 

Recording 4 – Children’s Room Static 1:

 

 

• There were some footsteps captured in the first moments of the recorder being placed in this area at :02.

 

Recording 5 – Children’s Room Static 2:

 

 

• Footsteps could be heard as if they were approaching this room starting at :03 and continued at :19, and lastly at :38.

 

Recording 6 – Children’s Room Static 3:

 

 

• A pair of knocks could be heard here at :04 and :44.

 

Recording 7 – Children’s Room Static 4:

 

 

• More knocking noises were captured in this clip at :01 then again at :21.

 

Recording 8 – Children’s Room Static 5:

 

 

• This clip could be one of our best captures ever as it included an extremely strange and unsettling moment.
• A pair of knocks was heard here at :07.
• The most captivating moment occurred when a bell was heard here at :13 and this was later realized to be an alarm clock set in the bedroom.

 

Recording 9 – Children’s Room Static 6:

 

 

• A single knock was captured here at :05 followed by some shuffling footsteps at :16.

 

Recording 10 – Children’s Room Static 7:

 

 

• Footsteps and knocks could be heard throughout this clip beginning with footsteps at :06.
• A knock was heard at :26 and even more footsteps at :42.

 

Recording 11 – Children’s Room Static 8:

 

 

• There were two final knocks here before we returned, heard at :03 and :17.

 

Recording 12 – Barbershop Static 1:

 

 

• There weren’t nearly as many oddities captured in this room but there were a few knocks captured throughout starting with this one at :02.

 

Recording 13 – Barbershop Static 2:

 

 

• Another knock was captured at this moment at :04.

 

Recording 14 – Barbershop Static 3:

 

 

• The final anomaly captured here was another knock at :05.

 

Video 1 – Walkthrough 1:

 

• The primary purpose of this walkthrough recording was to document the condition and layout of the property for future reference. A visual record of the location provides us with a baseline that can be reviewed later and compared against subsequent visits if changes or unexplained events occur. Although no situation arose during this investigation that required such a comparison, establishing a consistent photographic and video record of the property remains a valuable part of our standard investigative procedure and actually came in useful post investigation during our evidence review.
• There was a moment during the initial walkthrough where the camera just stopped working when we entered the Barbershop but upon a re-do of this video, the camera worked just fine.

 

 

Video 2 – Cell Phone Camera 1:

 

• During this clip, knocks could be heard coming in three’s, knocking on the door of the bathroom (located in the barber shop) while the second investigator was in the living room during the time frame.

 

 

Video 3 – Trail Camera 1:

 

• This is a short compilation of Derrick’s entrance into the bathroom, a strange light anomaly moving toward the bathroom, then finally leaving the area in a hurry following the odd knocking heard prior to investigation.

 

 

Living Room

 

The living room served as the primary gathering area during the investigation and was also the location where one of the more personal experiences of the evening occurred. While Derrick was in the bathroom and Dan remained alone in the living room, Dan experienced a brief mental impression of a woman standing just outside the home’s main entrance. The woman appeared to be wearing a cloak or long garment and carried a distinctly sad expression. The impression lasted only a few seconds and was experienced while Dan was fully awake. He independently described the figure afterward, and an AI-generated image was later created from that description. When shown the image, the owner became emotional and noted that the woman strongly reminded her of her mother, Holly. Although this does not establish the identity of the figure, the unexpected resemblance added a significant personal connection to the experience.

 

 

The living room also provided a setting for several unexplained audio events. While the investigators were separated, repeated groups of three knocks were heard, initially leading Derrick to believe Dan was attempting to get his attention. Additional groups of three knocks occurred as Derrick returned to the room, despite Dan remaining in the living room. Later, while investigators were reviewing activity from the area, a static recorder captured a breathy voice that appeared to say “Sara.” The recording was not heard in real time and was identified during subsequent review.

• There was not much out of the ordinary here, however, we attached a still from the video of the pendulum which was witnessed moving.

 

 

• During our time, especially early on, Dan received an odd image of an older woman standing in the doorway and we later recreated this image based on his recollection utilizing AI which is what is seen below. After showing this to the owners, they believed it reminded them of their mother, Holly.

 

 

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

 

 

• While we weren’t actively investigating during this early point but following the knocks captured in the bathroom, Derrick hustled out of the Barbershop and returned here. At that point, there were another 3 trios of knocks heard starting at :07, followed by :15, then finally at :26.

 

Recorder 2 – Pendulum Session:

 

 

• There was nothing extraordinary to hear in this full recording, the only thing that did occur was the Spirit Light jumped as it sat by the front door at 3:45. Otherwise, this clip is unremarkable.

 

Recorder 3 – Static:

 

 

• The two investigators were outside during this time as there was a loud commotion. This was determined to be a firetruck getting situated and set out to an unknown location.
• Meanwhile, this recorder sat on the table next to the pendulum as we noticed, completely unexpectedly, the name “Sarah” repeated here at :08 and :15.

 

Video 1 – Handheld Camera 1:

 

• Throughout this clip, the pendulum could be seen moving as we were attempting to gain a baseline.

 

 

Video 2 – Handheld Camera 2:

 

• This clip simply shows the time where the investigators were outside trying to figure out what the chaos was, which ended up being a firetruck. What’s notable during this timeframe is that this is when the breathy voice of “Sarah” was captured on the recorder.

 

 

Bedroom

 

The bedroom was investigated as part of the team’s systematic examination of the upper floor. While the Doss House has developed a reputation for unexplained activity in several areas of the property, this room did not produce any notable experiences or environmental changes during our investigation. Investigators remained in the room long enough to establish a baseline and conduct a brief assessment before moving on to areas that had demonstrated greater activity.

 

 

No significant evidence was captured from the bedroom during the investigation. Audio recordings, environmental observations, and investigative equipment produced no responses that could be confidently distinguished from normal activity within the building. The lack of activity was documented alongside the more active areas of the Doss House and served as an important control point for comparison during the investigation.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

 

 

• There was nothing significant captured here during our active investigation.

 

Video 1 – Trail Camera 1:

 

• What’s strange here is that there were two moments the trail cameras were activated but they were both only captured as a still image rather than a video, although this is not even a setting for this camera!

 

 

 

Video 2 – Owner Camera 1:

 

• This is the first video explanation of the clock the owners found which is the only explanation for the sound heard in the static recorder.

 

 

Video 3 – Owner Camera 2:

 

• This is the second video explanation of the clock which was the only likely culprit for the sound heard in the static recorder.

 

 

Children’s Room

 

The children’s room was investigated as part of the team’s examination of the second floor, an area that had already produced unexplained sounds while static recording equipment was operating unattended earlier in the evening. During the walkthrough and initial investigation, the room itself remained relatively quiet, with no immediate activity that could be attributed to an unexplained source.

 

 

While investigating the room and the area immediately outside its doorway, a distinct knocking sound was captured on an audio recorder. The exact location of the sound could not be determined, preventing a definitive identification of its source. No investigator was intentionally producing the sound at the time, and the event was preserved for later review. Although the incident was isolated, its proximity to the children’s room was noteworthy given the earlier footsteps and bell recorded on the second floor while the building was unattended.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

 

 

• While we attempted to find the source of the phantom smell, which we later figured out were hidden air fresheners, we heard a strange noise in person which the recorders did pick up. While one of us was inside the children’s room and the other was in the hallway, we each thought this noise echoed from the other location. It could be heard here at :01 although we never did pinpoint the exact location or cause of this.

 

Video 1 – Trail Camera 1:

 

• There were some strange lights that we could not determine what they were. There’s a possibility it was the investigators with IR lights but it’s odd that the camera did not turn on while they would have been in front of them.

 

 

Video 2 – Trail Camera 2:

 

• This camera was angled up the stairs toward this room and the IR light could be seen pulsating against the wall which is very unusual.

 

 

Video 3 – Trail Camera 3:

 

• In the same angle, up towards the children’s room from the base of the stairway, something strange could be seen toward the top of the staircase where a black shadow was captured as well as another appearance of what looked like glaring eyes.

 

 

Basement

 

The basement consisted of a main area and a smaller back room, both of which were investigated during the evening. During the initial walkthrough, the basement was one of the areas that produced a noticeable sense of discomfort for the investigators. Once the investigation began, however, the space remained unexpectedly quiet for much of the team’s time there. The back room produced little activity while investigators were actively present, with the exception of a later Rempod activation that occurred repeatedly as investigators announced they were preparing to leave the area.

 

 

The main basement area was similarly quiet until Derrick temporarily left to retrieve additional equipment. During later review of the static recordings, a breathy voice appeared to say the name “Sara.” The voice was not heard by either investigator in real time and was identified only during playback. An additional unexplained sound was also captured from the back room during the investigation. While the basement ultimately produced less sustained activity than the barbershop, the timing of the REM-Pod responses and the unexplained audio recordings made the area worthy of further consideration.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

 

 

• While we don’t typically pull out Ovilus communication, this moment seemed particularly interesting as the rain created puddles in the back room where we started. The Ovilus produced ‘Puddle’ and ‘Oxygen’ at :18.

 

Recorder 2 – EVP 2:

 

 

• With no communication here, we stood up to move to the other side of the basement, but, as we did so, the Rempod began to alert. To note, this device was not activated at any other point of our time down here and only one other time throughout the entire night.
• The first moment occurred as we stood and grabbed our bag at :10.
• We asked if they liked us moving on and it was again alerted at :30.
• After this, we asked if they liked the light to which the Rempod was alerted once more at :37.
• We discussed whether we were too close to it, but it was clearly seen that this was not the case. Again, and finally, the Rempod was alerted at :45.

 

Recorder 3 – EVP 3:

 

 

• After we moved into the main area and away from the back, more utility-esque room, one of the investigators ran upstairs to gather more equipment which left the other investigator alone.
• Although not heard in person, there were two heavy breaths which surprisingly sounded like a word. In particular, the name “Sarah.” This could be heard at :06 and :10.

• There was some type of strange light along the left wall whereas no device or  tool was placed there.

 

 

Video 2 – Handheld Camera 1:

 

• After we began to pack up and move from the back room to the main room, the Rempod was alerted at :14 as we packed up our bag.
• We discussed what could have set this off just as it activated again at :36.
• As we discussed if they wanted us to leave and to set it off again, they did so at :43.
• Continuing on with packing up, the Rempod was alerted and held strong from :49 until :54.

 

 

Barbershop

 

The barbershop quickly became one of the most significant areas of the investigation. During the initial walkthrough, both investigators experienced an uncomfortable sensation within the room, and upon entering during the investigation, the camera unexpectedly cut out and had to be restarted. As the investigation progressed, however, the room became increasingly active, producing more apparent responses than any other area of the Doss House. The Ovilus, Spirit Light, and Rempod all showed repeated activity during periods of focused communication.

 

 

Communication attempts through the Portal Spirit Box and Phasma Box produced several apparent responses, including “talk,” the name “Nat” repeated three times, and statements such as “leave me alone” and “go.” Later sessions produced additional names, including “Sara” and “Dave,” along with phrases such as “Don’t mind me,” “Stop,” “Holy crap,” “I hear you,” and “I’m a man.” When investigators asked about the woman associated with earlier experiences, a response identified her as a “mother.” Further communication included “behind you,” “Stand,” “Someone coming,” and “the chair,” with a REM-Pod activating following a request for confirmation. Near the conclusion of the investigation, responses appeared to reference being “a human life,” “only kind of,” and “dead.” As investigators began packing their equipment, the communication shifted from “wait” and “I’m sorry” to “pack up,” “thanks for coming,” and finally “get out.” The final response, delivered through the Phasma Box, coincided with the investigators’ decision to conclude the investigation and leave the Doss House.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

 

 

• As we were drawn here initially, we felt that nothing really occurred during our first visit while we attempted to figure out who was knocking on the door.
• While we didn’t pursue this initial investigation due to lack of communication, upon review, we heard another three knocks at :04.

 

Recorder 2 – EVP 2:

 

 

• A heavy breathing could be heard here at :04 although this was not heard in person.

 

Recorder 3 – EVP 3:

 

 

• We returned here after our time spent in the basement as we felt drawn back to this area to further pursue the identity of whoever was knocking. Even before we began running our recorders and videos, the Rempod and Spirit Light were both activated along with the Ovilus which produced the word ‘Rain’ to which it certainly was pouring outside.
• As we attempted to open up communication, the name “Sarah” seemingly came across once again through this eerie, breathing tone heard at :08.

 

Recorder 4 – EVP 4:

 

 

• Once more, the Ovilus sprung to life, giving us a slew of words beginning with ‘History’ and ‘September’ at :02.
• This continued with ‘Closet’ and ‘Fight’ at :13 then another pair of words at 1:05 with ‘Linger’ and ‘Presence.’
• Two more individual words came through during this timeframe starting with ‘One’ at 1:15 then ‘Monitor’ at 1:26.

 

Recorder 5 – EVP 5:

 

 

• We again tried to open communication and this strange breath was heard here at :03 which sounded to use like the name “Dave.”

 

Recorder 6 – EVP 6:

 

 

• The Spirit Light again was activated two more times prior to this clip but the Ovilus ended up producing ‘Potential’ and ‘Castle’ at :10 and :20 after we asked if they’d like us to set something else up so they could speak with us a different way.

 

Recorder 7 – Portal Spirit Box 1:

 

 

• Unprompted, as we attempted to open up communication, we heard an almost confirmation of “Talk” at :11.

 

Recorder 8 – Portal Spirit Box 2:

 

 

• We explained that we introduced ourselves and asked for their name and recorded what sounded like a nickname of “Nat” at :17.
• The Ovilus then produced the words ‘Bishop’ and ‘Radio’ at :30 followed by another word of ‘Terms’ at :42 then ‘Pace’ at :58.

 

Recorder 9 – Portal Spirit Box 3:

 

 

• We asked if they could use the tool and heard the word “Birthday” at :15.

 

Recorder 10 – Portal Spirit Box 4:

 

 

• Following the name we thought we heard of Nat, we asked if they could repeat this to which they did, twice. “Nat” was again heard at :25 and :33.
• The Ovilus then produced some odd responses of ‘Constant’ and ‘Van’ at :48.

 

Recorder 11 – Portal Spirit Box 5:

 

 

• Prior to this moment, the Spirit Light lit up and we followed that after we asked if their name was Matt or Kate but instead of confirmation, we heard a seemingly annoyed voice saying “Leave me alone” at :22.

 

Recorder 12 – Portal Spirit Box 6:

 

 

• We explained that they could tell us to leave and we would listen so we heard a response of “Go” at :15.

 

Recorder 13 – Return EVP 1:

 

 

• As we were drawn back to this room, we didn’t expect much to occur as the atmosphere had changed dramatically.
• We heard a deep breath tell us the name of “Sarah” once again, at :02.

 

Recorder 14 – Return EVP 2:

 

 

• While the name of Sarah had resurfaced here, a different name was heard at :03 through that same breathy voice but this time the name “Dave” was captured.

 

Recorder 15 – Return Phasma Box 1:

 

 

• After hearing those voices upon a field review, we decided to give them another option and tool to speak to us.
• We explained how the tool works and that we simply wanted to speak with them and opened the tool and time up for them to speak. Starting at :08, we heard the word “Steps.”
• Following this first communication, we were then told “Outside” at :13.
• While the Ovilus produced the word ‘Psychics’ at :41, the communication continued through the Phasma Box with “Don’t mind me” at :43.
• After a short pause, a demand of “Stop!” was heard at :53.

 

Recorder 16 – Return Phasma Box 2:

 

 

• A surprised sounding “Holy crap” was heard at :06 as if they were shocked they could speak.
• Hearing this, we asked if they were in fact surprised to hear their own voice and heard a clear response of “Hear you” at :22.
• The Ovilus produced ‘Novel’ at :33 but we continued on and asked for their name to which we captured a simple answer of “Yes” at :45 and “I’m a man” at :48.
• We were then told “Over there” at :54.

 

Recorder 17 – Return Phasma Box 3:

 

 

• We continued on but did not have much clear communication to build off, however, we were told that “This is sad” at :04.
• After we asked if they knew where they were, we heard “Sad news” at :31.

 

Recorder 18 – Return Phasma Box 4:

 

 

• As we asked if they were a man or woman, we were seemingly interrupted with an annoyed command of “Zip it” at :04.
• “Phasma box” was heard at :17 followed by “I like it” at :24 as if to say they liked using this tool.
• The word “Mother” was recorded at :29 followed by a surprised “Oh!?” at :37 after we asked if this was Dave or Sarah which we previously heard through the recorders.

 

Recorder 19 – Return Phasma Box 5:

 

 

• As Derrick felt a cold touch on his ear, we heard “Behind you” at :14.
• The Ovilus then produced ‘Soon’ at :23 followed by the Spirit Light lighting up at :24.
• We asked if that was them standing behind Derrick and we heard a response of “Behind you” once again at :39.
• After we attempted to confirm this by asking if they were behind him, a response of “Stand” was heard at :48.

 

Recorder 20 – Return Phasma Box 6:

 

 

• We were told that there may be someone else in the area with “There’s someone” at :04.
• After asking if someone was coming, the Rempod lit at :20.
• Dan looked through an SLS camera to see if he could map anyone but explained that he was just looking but we heard a response, almost a mimic, of “He’s just looking” at :43.

 

Recorder 21 – Return Phasma Box 7:

 

 

• As we asked how many of them were in the room, we heard an extremely high number, albeit clearly, of “Eighteen” at :12.
• After explaining to them that this number was high, we heard another confirmation of “Just two” at :18.
• We tried to pinpoint their identity and asked what year it was but instead heard “Five years old” at :42 and as Dan sneezed, there was a polite “Bless you” captured at :52.

 

Recorder 22 – Return Phasma Box 8:

 

 

• As we explained that we felt that someone was over in the other corner, we heard “The chair” at :17 followed by a confirmation of “Over there” at :20.
• The Ovilus produced the word ‘Set’ at :54 but we continued to pry and asked what this house was to them, knowing it went through multiple iterations, and heard “No relation” at 1:09.

 

Recorder 23 – Return Phasma Box 9:

 

 

• After a brief quiet period, we pursued the prior idea and asked if this was their house to which we heard “Go” at :33.
• We asked one another if they may have a relation to this house but heard a strange response of “Collection” at :33.
• As we asked them directly if they could tell us about the old woman Dan saw, we instead heard the name “Sarah” at 1:02 through the Phasma Box rather than a breathy EVP.
• Following this name we heard the word “Nothing” at 1:06 but another name of “Amanda” at 1:12.

 

Recorder 24 – Return Phasma Box 10:

 

 

• There was some further silence so we asked if they were still with us and we were told that we’ve “Got to search” :03.
• This was followed by “For me” at :05 and told “Right now” at :09.
• We were seemingly given an apology for their command at :17 with “Apology.”

 

Recorder 25 – Return Phasma Box 11:

 

 

• Our interest in their name continued when we asked for their name but we were told “I did” at :14.
• Oddly, we were told “It’s a human life” at :22 and as well asked if they were a human life and we were told “Kinda, yeah” at :38.
• We blatantly asked what that meant and if perhaps they were mistreated and were told “No, he’s not” at 1:03 followed by “Dead” at 1:06.
• Furthering this thought, we asked again if they were mistreated and told “Over worked” at 1:22.

 

Recorder 26 – Return Phasma Box 12:

 

 

• With the responses slowing, we explained to them that we were going to be packing up soon and we were told to in fact “Pack up” at :09.
• We were then asked “What is this thing?” at :23 likely in reference to the Phasma Box.
• As they referred back to the previous comment, they continued with “Thanks for coming” at :36.
• The Phasma Box seemed to kick up some unrecognizable words and we were told, with an exasperated sentiment, “Not this again” at :41.

 

Recorder 27 – Return Phasma Box 13:

 

 

• As if someone else entered the fray, naturally as we were trying to pack up, we were told “I’m fine” at :02 which was repeated and expanded at :05 with “I’m fine and you?”
• We still continued to pack up but were told “Wait!” at :29 then an apologetic “I’m sorry” at :39.

 

Recorder 28 – Return Phasma Box 14:

 

 

• The final communication we received was as we were making our way to the Phasma Box and recorders to finalize our pack up and heard “My entire life” at :15 and “Was the same thing” at :35 and finally “To get out” at 1:12.

• There was an odd shadow moving in the doorway here toward the kitchen.

 

 

Video 2 – Trail Camera 2:

 

• Another strange shadow could be seen moving in the kitchen toward this room.

 

 

Video 3 – Handheld Camera 1:

 

• The Spirit Light could be seen lighting up at :15.

 

 

Video 4 – Handheld Camera 2:

 

• Once again, the Spirit Light could be spotted activating at :51.

 

 

Video 5 – Handheld Camera 3:

 

• We asked if they could light this again to let us know of their presence and, at :10, the Spirit Light jumped again.

 

 

Video 6 – Handheld Camera 4:

 

• After asking if they could confirm if someone was here, possibly Kate or Matt, the Spirit Light turned on at :12.

 

 

Video 7 – Handheld Camera 5:

 

• After some Phasma Box communication where we heard them tell us that someone was coming, we asked if they could confirm if in fact someone was coming and, at :16, the Rempod was activated and stayed that way until :27.
• Strangely, following this moment, at :28, the Rempod flickered with it’s light only and no sound.

 

 

The Doss House presents an interesting combination of factors. It is a historic structure dating back to approximately 1810, with more than two centuries of human activity connected to the property. It served numerous roles throughout its history and became associated with multiple professions, including medicine, dentistry, undertaking, and barbering.

 

It also has a growing collection of paranormal stories. Visitors have reported apparitions, footsteps, shadow figures, unexplained sounds, unusual sensations, and equipment malfunctions. Some of those experiences are compelling from a personal perspective. But personal experiences are only the beginning of an investigation.

 

Our job is to determine what can be documented. The Doss House is unquestionably a location with history. Whether that history has produced an ongoing paranormal presence is a much more difficult question.

 

 

Iron City Paranormal did not enter the property expecting to prove that it was haunted. We entered looking for evidence. That meant documenting experiences, examining recordings, considering environmental explanations, and being willing to discard evidence when a conventional explanation made more sense.

 

The static recording is a good example. Several sounds initially stood out as potentially significant. After technical review, however, the strongest events appeared to be broadband acoustic events rather than clear voices. That does not solve every question surrounding the recording. It simply prevents us from making a claim the evidence does not currently support.

 

The Doss House remains an intriguing location, not because every strange occurrence can be labeled paranormal, but because the combination of its history, reported experiences, and unexplained events gives investigators plenty of questions to explore. There is still evidence here that deserves further review. There are still experiences that do not have definitive explanations. And there are still questions we cannot answer. Perhaps that is the most honest conclusion we can offer. We don’t know exactly what is happening at the Doss House. But we know what we experienced. We know what we recorded. We know what we were able to explain. And we know what remains unexplained. For Iron City Paranormal, that’s where the investigation continues.
