Andrew Bayne Memorial Library – Follow Up Investigation

Investigation

The small town of Bellevue, PA is situated on the nearby Ohio River and a mere thirty minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. This blue-collar town is easy to overlook if you’re simply passing through but the beauty of this older area holds a certain beauty harkening back to its early years and heyday. Near the center of this town is an old structure, gorgeous in its own right with ornate woodwork and brickwork. Surrounding this building is a large open green space of a park. This was once all owned by the predominant Bayne family who eventually donated it to the common good and benefit of the town. To this day, the space is known as Bayne Park but only encapsulates a very small portion of the land the family once owned and purveyed. The old mansion was passed down from Andrew Bayne split between his two daughters, Amanda and Jane. His third child, Tom, was well off on his own and worked for the state as a congressman although not much has ever been documented about his life aside from his body being laid out in the Parlor of this home upon his death. While none of his children had any children or heirs of their own they donated their home to the town for its own usage which converted the mansion into a community library which allowed for the growth of the town. The Andrew Bayne Memorial Library was born. With this, the paranormal encounters began with a strong belief that the former owners had never really left their happy home.

Our first investigation occurred during the COVID pandemic and there was a lack of energy provided for these supernatural energies to feed off. Regardless, we did capture a few, while sparse, oddities and anomalies. This at least gave us a foundation to build off and pursue further during our follow-up investigation. Our group arrived in stages beginning around 8:00 PM and those interested in a quick tour of the building were welcomed to follow our wonderful host for the evening, Linda. As part of our team took this tour hearing both the historical tales as well as those reported hauntings, the rest of the team prepared our gear. The investigation itself began roughly around 8:30 PM and we completed our investigation around 2:30 AM.

The investigative team included five of us in total including additional investigators of Jill, Andrew, and Ayla. Nearly our full arsenal of equipment was utilized except the laser grid as there were no true larger areas to deploy this tool. Our list of equipment included four motion-activated trail cameras, two separate stationary cameras, one handheld camera, four K2 meters, one SB7 Spirit Box, one Phasma Box, one Ovilus, two Rempods, one Spirit Light, three recorders, one FLIR thermal imaging camera, one additional IR light, one EM Pump, two light up cat balls, and one SLS camera.

During our evening, beginning back to our initial walkthrough of the building, some energies and atmospheres seemed fleeting but strong at random moments. This was most notable in the Attic area with a heaviness or thickness to the area which dissipated as more investigators made their way up here and more so when we began our investigation. While we did begin our investigation in this open area, there was not much verbal communication but instead, we heard a few knocks and taps as if responding to our questions. We did ensure that everyone was accounted for in these situations, including Linda who did not move around in the office below.

The second floor, all separate bedrooms but each altered for the library’s current needs, had drawn us here ever since our walkthrough when we noticed a letter misplaced and lying on the floor. It was not like this before our walkthrough but, upon further review, the letter was not exactly attached to the wall with the duct tape very well. As we explored these rooms throughout the night, the most communication and odd happenings occurred in the large, open space thought to be Amanda’s Room and the back corner bedroom which we had dubbed the Children’s Reading Room due to the books surrounding the room were all younger children-based books.

Through the usage of our verbal speech devices (the Spirit Box and the Phasma Box) as well as our motion-activated and energy-altering devices (the flashlights, Rempod, Spirit Light, and K2 meters) we were able to communicate with these energies which helped us to confirm not only their existence but also some of their identities. From intelligent communication, where we gathered information about them, to residual conversations, where we experienced some old discussions that were perhaps so intense that they engrained themselves in the sheer existence of the former mansion, we feel that we gathered not only enough paranormal occurrences to lay claim that the library is indeed still home to ethereal energies but also that our initial theory that, during our first investigation, there was simply not enough energy provided during the pandemic to produce the massive amount of energy required for the other side to step forward, speak, and simply interact.

Below are recordings, videos, and pictures from our follow-up paranormal investigation of the Andrew Bayne Memorial Library. We noted particular moments from each recording and video which includes communication or some type of paranormal evidence we believe we captured.  After listening to the recordings and watching the videos, please feel free to reach out and let us know your thoughts.

As always, you have been warned, some of this is not for the faint of heart and can be slightly explicit:

Attic – Main Room & Hallway

Through the narrow hallway which opens to three different rooms, the open area upstairs holds a long table piled with books while bookshelves encapsulate the room. This area is simply another area where the library stores books and utilizes the side rooms as storage areas. This area has been long said to be a focal point for the unnatural. Footsteps and shadows have been practically considered commonplace but the most paranormally charged tale is that of former owner Amanda. For whatever reason she has been physically seen here on countless occasions. This has been reported not just to the employees of the library but the cops! Amanda has been said to be wandering about as if pacing but her favorite location of the entire house is in the side room just peering out the window longingly. She has even been known to roam the hallway as some have heard footsteps echoing just as Amanda makes herself known. Visitors have claimed to see her, employees themselves have seen her, and even simple passersby from the street have seen her in this window. Aside from these, electrical issues have been said to occur here but none of these experiences have ever been anything but friendly, warm, and welcoming. It’s almost as if Amanda is just letting guests know that she’s still at her home watching over the beautiful building.

On our first visit to the library, we recorded some very strange and unexplained knocking noises. After we attempted some Phasma Box communication we did record too much intelligent communication aside from a fleeting moment as Dan’s name was repeated to him followed by some laughter as if in response to our surprised reaction.

While this area is insulated and heated, much like the rest of the old building simply with old wall-mounted radiators, this area has been known to be hot during the summer months and frigidly cold during the winter months. We chose February…needless to say it was quite cold. So we opted to begin in this location simply to attempt to use as much of the warmer air before it froze us later in the evening, adding to the hauntings. The initial sensation was of a heaviness, almost a pressure on the investigators’ chests but this quickly dissipated. We did receive what seemed like a knocking response as we attempted communication but that only led to some tools being activated as if someone was simply toying with us. We returned here sporadically throughout the night and did receive a similar scenario of feeling heavy with difficulty breathing only to dissipate as if this energy was hiding in the surrounding rooms avoiding the investigators while they heard creaking footsteps from the outside hallway.

Later in the evening, after our ESTES session in the second-floor bedroom, we were told to return to this area at the top of the stairwell. During this time we were told some strange, at the time disconnected thoughts, but began to put some things together like an almost insulting phrase of “Ignore the fool” as if referring to an investigator, the term “Family,” and even the name “Sarah.” Eventually, we did seem to run out of activity, answers, and patience.

Photos:

  • We’ve attached a few video stills showing the light-up, energy-activated tools turning on as if someone moved close to them only to back away quickly.

Recording 1 – EVP 1:

  • While there was some Ovilus activity, there never seemed to be anything consistent or intelligent. This moment we included was one of the more captivating of our time up in this area. After we recognized them activating some devices, a knocking could be heard at :04.
  • This was then again at :44 after we asked if they could repeat that noise.

Recording 2 – EVP 2:

  • As we wandered later in the night, we felt drawn back up to this area and as we walked into the room, footsteps could be heard creaking from the hallway.

Recording 3 – ESTES 1:

  • While the Ovilus did produce some interesting responses at first, none of them tied together or made much sense.
  • Regardless of that fact, the Spirit Box produced four words that went unheard by the listener. Put together they are some of the most intelligent questions we’ve ever heard regarding our missing investigator that evening; Dan:
    • “Where” at :04
    • “Is” at :07
    • “Daniel” at :09
    • “Dan” at :15
      • Put it together, “Where is Daniel?” To us, Daniel is known as Dan so it does tie together and makes sense.

Recording 4 – ESTES 2:

  • Another moment not heard in the moment, we were told to disregard a certain someone. This someone was unknown but we were told to “Look” at :04.
  • This was followed by “Ignore” at :39 and “The fool” at :41.

Recording 5 – ESTES 3:

  • We were then told through the Spirit Box that “Family” :09 is “Here” at :10. This was not heard by the listener at that moment.
  • The name “Sarah” was then heard here at :16.

Recording 6 – ESTES 4:

  • We began again asking if they wanted to talk to us. At :15, both the listener and the Spirit Box heard and captured a question of “To you?” in almost a confused manner.
  • At :23, the listener did not hear but the Spirit Box did provide the name “Todd” after we asked for their name.
  • Oddly enough, one of the more clear words came through which was heard at the time of “Toothbrush” at :26.
  • The word “Heartless” was then recorded only through the Spirit Box at 1:03 but the number “Four” was heard live as well as in recording at 1:04 following us questioning whether they were an adult or a child.

Recording 7 – ESTES 5:

  • Right away we heard a banging noise after we asked if they were still with us followed by a confirmation of “That was me” repeated at :07 and :09. To note, this was not heard live but rather in the Spirit Box review.
  • We then heard the number “Three” at :24 through the Spirit Box but did not hear it in person.

Recording 8 – ESTES 6:

  • Once more we turned our attention to their personal life to attempt to get further answers and began by asking (assuming this was a child) if their mother was there with them. At :13, the Spirit Box quietly produced a “No” response unheard by the listener.
  • We may have been overhearing some type of residual altercation or communication as the Spirit Box softly picked up a cordial “Sir” at :15 followed by “Ridiculous” at :17.
  • The insult of “Little brat” was then heard through the Spirit Box at :24 but a gentle voice seemed to settle this one down with a soothing “It’s okay” at :37.

Recording 9 – ESTES 7:

  • Towards the end of our time here, we were told to “Go” as heard only through the Spirit Box and not in person at :09.
  • While we did not budge or prepare to move, we were seemingly being called with a “Hey” at :17 when we finally decided to move on.

Video 1 – Trail Camera:

  • Right away, the trail camera placed in Amanda’s sitting room picked up a quick-moving light right at the window.

Video 2 – Stationary Camera:

  • We let this camera run both during and after our time spent here investigating. One oddity we immediately noticed is that the camera’s battery was drained so there was only truly one video recorded which only lasted roughly ten minutes after we had left this area.
  • While our investigation could be seen taking place in the background, the true oddities witnessed in this video were situated in front of the camera and away from the investigators.
  • The Rempod could be seen activating with lights and heard with beeping noises at 15:22 with no investigators near it to set it off.
  • The cat ball could be seen lighting up at 16:07 and we did try to debunk this by testing different floorboards and even stomping nearby it.
  • The Spirit Light could be seen and heard lighting up pink at 17:43.
  • About a minute later, at 18:47, the K2 meter was seen spiking. It was placed on the far side of the table, again, away from investigators.
  • As the group prepared to leave, the K2 meter once more lit up at 19:39.
  • Once again we went to leave but this time the Rempod activated at 21:02, 21:38, and 21:55.
  • After the group had left the Rempod could once more be seen going off at 23:00 and 23:04.
  • The last oddity we noted here was that something forced the camera to lose focus as if something had moved into or out of the frame. This occurred at approximately 28:35.

First Floor

The first floor is mainly utilized for the main library and a sitting / entertaining room. This sitting room is actually where we set up the majority of our equipment and used as a break area. The front parlors, currently simple library areas filled with bookshelves in each separate area, used to act as meeting and greeting rooms. When one of the Bayne children, Tom,  passed away, he was laid out for viewings until his funeral services were held right there on the grounds. He was laid out right inside the humongous bay window, appropriate for such a prominent figure in society and Congress. Aside from phantom footsteps and creaking floorboards, which we believe can simply be an effect of an older home, there are more recent tales of Tom returning to this area where he was laid out before his burial. The main foyer / grand entry area has been rumored to be active with moving lights and shadows as if still welcoming guests from the past and, perhaps, for all eternity.

During our first investigation, we did not spend any time on the first floor aside from a few moments when we attempted basic communication to no avail. Back at that time, there were no direct connections or any known hauntings specific to these areas. That has since changed according to employees.

Our communication was practically non-existent in these areas. However, we fixated our gaze on the library’s security cameras as they showed random lights appearing and disappearing in the hallway. We also noted that the chandelier moved on its own for quite some time. The only anomaly we captured in the Parlor Room was a moment when a trail camera strangely glitched out showing two different images of one of the investigators. The opposite room, in the Main Library, showed some odd lights moving down the hallway just outside this room thanks to our trail camera set up here.

Photos:

  • This is an example of one of the screenshots showing the lights moving about empty Parlor rooms.

  • This is a screenshot highlighting a light anomaly moving down the foyer thanks to the security cameras.

  • This image shows the moment the chandelier sways side to side on its own.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

  • There was nothing out of the ordinary recorded or experienced here.

Video 1 – Trail Camera – Library:

  • There was a light spotted moving across right away while a separate light could be seen moving on the right side at :08.

Video 2 – Trail Camera – Library:

  • Two different lights could be seen moving sporadically toward the right side of the screen at :02 and :07.

Video 3 – Trail Camera – Library:

  • At the top left of the camera screen, a light could be seen moving about at :04 and :06.

Video 4 – Trail Camera – Parlor:

  • An odd moment showing two images of our investigator was seen here at :07. This could simply be a glitch but we also have no explanation for this moment.

Video 5 – Handheld Camera – Foyer:

  • The chandelier could be seen swaying side to side throughout this clip.

Video 6 – Security Footage – Foyer:

  • We watched the security cameras intently and opted to record some of them via our handheld cameras. What was seen, for the most part, was odd lights moving about this large open space.
  • This began here with lights at the top right at :10 and :18.

Video 7 – Security Footage – Foyer:

  • These lights were spotted once again here, seen at the center at :06 and the right side at :14.

Video 8 – Security Footage – Foyer:

  • The lights were spotted moving across the screen at :12 and :14.
  • In the center of the screen, these lights returned at :38 and :40.

Video 9 – Security Footage – Foyer:

  • At the top left of this screen, the light was noticed at :08.
  • These lights then persisted at the top right at :10 and :14.

Second Floor Bedroom – ‘READ’ Room

The second floor is host to multiple bedrooms, all of which have been transformed into some type of utilized space whether it be more bookshelves, classrooms, or open spaces for presentations or events. This bedroom, a hard left after ascending the staircase, is a simplistic room with a table and chairs but the wood finishes and the fireplace are absolutely gorgeous. This room has not been noted as to whose bedroom it was but there have been oddities which are said to move about this room including dark shadows moving about and phantom footsteps echoing from this room when no one else is present. We aptly nicknamed this room due to its large cutout letters spelling ‘R-E-A-D’ above the mantle.

We did not investigate this area during our first investigation. We were just never drawn to it for some peculiar reason. With nothing to go off of, we had to start fresh in this location.

The only minor conversation we had was thanks to the lighting up of a flashlight, but it only turned on as we explained how to communicate with us. This was very similar to the Attic where they came forth then left quickly. The more intriguing (again) moments, however, were the odd anomalies that seemed to occur on a whim. The first moment was an indecipherable whisper and upon a review, we realized that not one investigator was speaking during that time frame. The next moment was that of bangs or knocking sounds emanating from just outside the room. We were able to confirm that Linda did not move below us and no one else was out in the general direction of the hallway.

Photos:

  • The letter ‘R’ that fell out of the room was pictured here.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

  • At :03 this soft and, unfortunately, indistinguishable whisper can be heard.

Recorder 2 – EVP 2:

  • After we had a period of silence and truly no activity, there were banging sounds coming from the hallway. This could be heard at :02 and again at :06 and was unexplained.

Second Floor Bedroom – Amanda’s Bedroom

Across the hallway in this next bedroom is one of the larger spaces of the old home. Even though this room has not been formally documented as anyone’s bedroom in particular, it has been nicknamed and unofficially known as Amanda’s Bedroom. This room has been referred to as this former homeowner’s bedroom due to the fact of the size, being the largest in the building, as well as two large closets. Much like the other rooms on the second floor, shadows and silhouettes have been seen here. Rather than lingering inside the room, they tend to disappear as they enter the room or peer out of the room at the random guest.

On our last visit here we believe we captured a quick passing of Amanda as the electronics began going haywire and the Phasma Box helped tell us that she was there, even if this was just a fleeting moment. Much like the tales coming from the building’s legend, we believe we encountered Amanda but just simply to remind us that she was still in the building.

This second investigation led to some very interesting interactions. This began simply with Ovilus communication which did produce us with a name to start with; Robert. The activity ramped up with some K2 meter activity lighting up, in one moment in particular as we mentioned the previously given name of Robert. With this, we opted to proceed with a more verbal device and utilized the Spirit Box. These communication moments provided us with some interesting conversations including a welcome to “Begin” followed by the words “Problem” and “Chair” as if they recognized one of the investigators had an issue with the chair she was sitting in settling down for her. This continued and produced the name “Robert” not just once but twice. At this moment we also encountered a figure through our SLS camera very near the K2 meter which had been lit up previously.

After a break, we attempted to use the Phasma Box which has also helped provide us with more verbal communication. This communication helped tell us that there were “Three” of them with us and there were “Nine” of us total which was an accurate total including the five investigators, one library employee, and the three of them. While we did gain some intelligent conversations with the likes of discussing our equipment and its location with “It’s in the Attic” and “Camera is still there,” some of the most intriguing moments during our time here we gained names of “Sid” and “Julia” while we had one of the investigators names repeated clearly to us with “Ayla.”

Even though we moved on, we were drawn back to this location as we attempted an ESTES Method version of communication which had one investigator in sense deprivation listening to the Spirit Box with noise-canceling headphones shouting out any words he may hear while the rest of the room asks questions and await for these responses. During our second try with this method, first in this area, it seemed fruitful as we captured the name “Amanda” but she did not seem to stick around long as we were told someone else arrived with “Out there” and “She left.” Unfortunately, we seemed to draw their patience as they told us “No” when asked if they wanted us with them, a command of “Go away,” and “Too late. Eventually, we were coerced into leaving as they told us to “Go” and “Back” and “Attic” ending with “Hallway.” All of these words did make sense and when combined made perfect sense: from there we headed back up to the Attic.

Photos:

  • The figure could be seen through the SLS camera as if they were sitting in a chair on the far side of the room.

  • There was a moment when the K2 meter lit and seen on video which we’ve included a screen capture here.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

  • This recording will read more as a transcript as the majority of the conversation here was through the Ovilus and K2 meter rather than any type of actual verbal communication.
  • This all began with the name ‘Robert’ being produced by the Ovilus at 1:05.
  • There were some other words the Ovilus gave us which didn’t seem to make much sense with ‘Cold’ at 4:27 and ‘Chief’ at 4:31.
  • With some silence, we were given ‘Halo’ at 7:34, ‘Wire’ at 7:35 then ‘Castle’ at 7:56.
  • Nothing seemed to tie together for us but after the Ovilus gave us the word ‘Developed’ at 8:15, the K2 meter began to spike as we mentioned the name of Robert. This occurred at 8:46, 8:49, 9:33, and finally ended at 9:35.
  • The Ovilus seemed to produce further correspondence with ‘Candle’ at 10:28, ‘Surface’ at 10:29, and the letter ‘L’ at 10:30.
  • As if picking up the same energy change, the Ovilus gave us ‘Hand’ at 10:46 just as the K2 meter lit simultaneously.
  • The last moment during this timeframe with just this Ovilus communication was the word ‘Heard’ produced at 11:04.

Recorder 2 – Spirit Box 1:

  • In this first Spirit Box attempt, we were told to “Begin” at :02.
  • We explained that they could speak into the little red light and we’d be able to hear them. As if understanding this, we heard a surprised question of “What?!” at :21.
  • While one of the investigators struggled to get settled in her chair, we overheard “Chair” at :31 and then “Problem” at :33, seemingly recognizing this particular moment.

Recorder 3 – Spirit Box 2:

  • The Spirit Box device seemed to go haywire and we even tried to turn it all the way down to reset our session but the volume would not change. To add to this, the backlight would not go away and the direction of the sweep would not change from backward to forward. It’s possible whoever was in the room with us simply wanted to be noticed and, if that was the case, it worked.
  • After we left the room, pulled the batteries, and returned to this area, we were able to restart our investigative session. Before this though, we did capture a figure sitting in a nearby chair through our SLS camera and we could not duplicate this as if it were some type of glitch.
  • When we finally began our Spirit Box and further attempts to communicate, we did not get much more via this device but we were able to make out “Rest” at :10 followed by the name “Robert,” again and, repeated at :14 and :16.

Recorder 4 – Phasma Box 1:

  • With the prior issues and lack of further communication, we changed course here and utilized the Phasma Box just for a change of approach.
  • Luckily, this helped guide the conversation forward and, this time, with a seemingly new individual.
  • After we began using this tool we asked if they could hear us and at :02 we heard a response of “Hey.”
  • To follow this, we asked how many people were here to which we received a response of “Three” at :11.
  • As a continuation, we recorded “Nine” at :15. At first this didn’t make much sense but once we began to think about it they told us there were three of them with us, plus five investigators, and one employee for a total of nine.

Recorder 5 – Phasma Box 2:

  • Blatantly, we asked for their name and heard “Sid” at :03.
  • After some silence, we were warned “Look out” at 1:08.

Recorder 6 – Phasma Box 3:

  • While one of the investigators stepped out of the room, it seemed as though whoever was in this room was aware of that fact. We asked if they knew where he was and heard a response of “He’s away” at :07 followed by a plea of “Come back to me” at :13.
  • After a pause to digest this information, we heard a follow-up explaining that “He’s up there” at :38 once again referring to this investigator.

Recorder 7 – Phasma Box 4:

  • This moment was more of a reference to our equipment which they seemed interested in earlier in the night. Here, we were told that “It’s in the attic” at :03.
  • Naturally, we questioned this and asked what was in the attic and heard an intelligent response of “Camera is still there” at :11.

Recorder 8 – Phasma Box 5:

  • While there was some silence before this clip, we do believe that someone else joined in and spoke up beginning with a surprised exclamation of “I can really talk!?” at :03.
  • After we asked directly as to what they wanted us to do we heard “Play” repeated twice at :21 and again at :24.

Recorder 9 – Phasma Box 6:

  • We were then told to “Come here” at :01.
  • With that, we asked who was here with us and heard, amazingly, the full name “Julia O’Neil” at :17 than just the name “Julia” again at :34.
  • At about :45 the K2 meter spiked.
  • One of the investigators introduced herself and her name was repeated at 1:01 with a clear and pronounced “Ayla.”

Recorder 10 – Phasma Box 7:

  • As we mentioned this room used to look like a chapel (during our first visit) we heard a question, “We’re in the chapel?” at :04.

Recorder 11 – Phasma Box 8:

  • A long, maybe the longest exchange of the night, then started with a confident sounding “I’m ready” at :01.
  • As we heard this, we asked what they were ready for to which we heard a confused “With them?” at :09. We thought, at the time, that we heard another name of Hershel but were obviously incorrect as we heard an astounded “What?!” at :26 as we mentioned this name.
  • Redirecting the condensation we heard “Little” at :31 so we asked what was little and heard “Kid” at :37.
  • We put this together and asked if they liked the little kids that visit this building and heard another intelligent response of “They come and go” at :53 as if referencing these children.

Recorder 12 – Phasma Box 9:

  • As the investigator was still absent from the room, we asked if they had found him yet and heard “He’s still there” at :04 then a direct response of “Yes” at :08.
  • They then pleaded to the group to find the investigator and for “Somebody go get him” at :13.

Recorder 13 – Phasma Box 10:

  • Finally, to end our initial time here, we heard “Old people” at :02 then eventually “I’m gonna leave” at :48 after there was no other communication from our end.

Recorder 14 – ESTES 1:

  • Right away, the Spirit Box produced a welcoming of “Hello” and “Hey there” at :06 and :08 respectively. This, however, was not picked up by the listener.

Recorder 15 – ESTES 2:

  • After settling in and some silence, we asked for their name to which we heard “Amanda” at :21.
  • We attempted to get this confirmed so we asked directly if their name was Amanda but heard, instead, “Not you” at 1:53 as if they wanted to speak to someone else.
  • With that, we asked if they wanted someone else to ask questions and we heard “Her” at 2:05.

Recorder 16 – ESTES 3:

  • Without much more activity at that point, we changed our questioning and asked if this energy had a favorite room. We heard a simple confirmation of “I did” at :13.
  • We proceeded along this path and asked which room and heard two different answers of “That one” and “Story” respectively at :18 and :28. We took this as a story room but unfortunately there are many rooms that could be considered that.

Recorder 17 – ESTES 4:

  • This is another moment where the listener did not hear this communication but it did appear on the Spirit Box during our review. It seemed as though there were too many people and, looking back at that time, it made sense as the entire group was here.
  • At :08 we captured “Leave” followed by “People” at :33.
  • “More people” was recorded at :42 then “Out” at :51.

Recorder 18 – ESTES 5:

  • We asked if they were still with us and even though the listener heard “She left” cleaned up the Spirit Box sounded more like “Escape.” This could be heard at :05.
  • Quite clearly, one of the investigator’s names was again heard here at :32 with “Ayla.” This was not heard at that moment.

Recorder 19 – ESTES 6:

  • This was another one of our longer communication periods where there seemed to be some back-and-forth discussing who they truly wanted to speak with.
  • We asked if there was anyone they’d like to speak with and, at :13, we heard a simple response of “Yes.”
  • From here we asked who they wanted to speak to, whether they were male or female, and we heard a response of “Both” repeated at :59 and 1:01.
  • After asking what we could do to help them speak to us (perhaps a different tool?). The Spirit Box captured “People” at 1:46 but the listener did not hear this followed by “One of you” at 1:48 which was heard by the listener.
  • We attempted to put this together and asked if they only wanted to speak to one person and heard this confirmed at 1:57 with “One.”
  • A quick change of this response was noted at 2:01 with “Both” but unfortunately was not heard by the listener.
  • After we asked if they only wanted two of the investigators there (Ayla and Derrick) but heard “Both” at 2:34. Thankfully the listener heard this on this occasion.
  • One of the investigators asked directly if they wanted him in the room and we received what the listener thought was a “No” at the time but in actuality, the Spirit Box gave us a confused question of “Pardon?” at 2:52. Even though the investigator did leave the room, it almost seemed as though they were offended when we offered this as an option.
  • With that, we asked if they wanted to speak with one of the initial investigators again (Ayla) and heard an inspired response of “Maybe” at 3:23. Again the listener heard more of a “yes” rather than a maybe. Luckily we pursued this regardless.

Recorder 20 – ESTES 7:

  • We changed the subject altogether and, being that this is now a library, we asked if they had any favorite books. This is another contested answer as the listener heard “People” at the time but the Spirit Box sounded more like “Pretty” at :17. Either way, this response did not help.
  • As we just listened in, we heard another possible response to this with “That’s just fine” at :25.
  • While we tried to narrow their likes down we asked if they were young or old to which we heard an intelligent reply of “Young” at 1:04.
  • We seemed to wear on their patience and heard “Go away,” not just once but twice, at 1:53 and 1:55.
  • As we began to discuss this we heard a gruff, and possibly irritated, “What?!” at 2:03.

Recorder 21 – ESTES 8:

  • This final communication in this area started just through the Spirit Box and was not heard by the listener with “You” at :10, “Up” at :30, “Go” at both :33 and :45, and finally “Up” again at :46.
  • The listener did begin to pick these up in the room and we began to put pieces together. This began with “Go back” at :50 then “Up” at :57.
  • We asked if they wanted us to go upstairs and heard “Go” once again at 1:24.
  • “Attic” and “Hallway” were both heard clearly and forcefully, almost impatiently, at 1:33 and 1:43.
  • Continuing to put the pieces together we asked if they wanted us in the Attic Hallway and heard a timid “For now” at 2:52.
  • At this point, we decided to follow this command and attempted further ESTES in the Attic Hallway.

Video 1 – Handheld Camera:

  • The K2 meter could be seen lighting up right at the start of this video and then again at :03.

Video 2 – SLS Camera:

  • There was a figure that could be seen sitting in a chair across from the investigator asking questions. We attempted to debunk this as perhaps a glitch but were unable to get this to repeat itself.

Second Floor Bedroom – Teacher’s Room

Straight back from the stairwell, another bedroom on this floor is a space packed with more books, a large table surrounded by chairs, and a teacher’s desk. That’s exactly how we nicknamed this bedroom based upon that large wooden desk filled with papers and books. While not much has been noted about this room as to whose room it may have been, the speculation is that it was simply one of the children’s bedrooms. This room was eventually opened up to the adjoining room which is the way it’s currently situated next to another similar room. This is another area that has had footsteps and peaking shadows which is just the story of pretty much every room on this second floor.

Our prior investigation to this library did not allow us time to investigate this area so, once again, we had nothing to go off and had to start fresh in this room.

While the Ovilus produced some words and the flashlights flickered on throughout our time here, the most communication and intelligence experienced during this period of time occurred when we asked if they wanted us to leave and head to the adjacent room. The flashlight emphatically jumped to life so we opted to follow that subtle nudge.

Photos:

  • There was nothing photographed or videography noteworthy from this room.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

  • At :12, the Ovilus produced ‘Ago’ and then ‘Cause’ at :14.
  • After we discussed that we were going to switch sides of the table to have a better vantage point, the Ovilus showed the word ‘Smooth’ at :42, almost jokingly.
  • We asked, openly, if there was anyone with us. At 4:38, after nothing but silence, the flashlight turned on as if it was a yes response.
  • After this moment, we asked if they could turn the light back off to which they seemingly obliged as the flashlight shut off at 4:53.
  • Once more silence followed this moment with no communication or interactions occurring. We discussed heading to the next room over and asked them directly if they’d want us to go to the other room and, if so, they’d be willing to follow us over here. The flashlight turned on at 9:46 as if another yes response.

Second Floor Bedroom – Children’s Reading Room

Adjacent to the previous Teacher’s Room, this simple room is surrounded with mainly young children’s’ reading material along with three separate tables each surrounded by chairs. It’s easy to see why we nicknamed this room based on the book selection pinpointed specifically for this room. This area is openly connected to the Teacher’s Room and the back corner of the hallway. Much like its sister room, this area was also seen as one of the children’s bedrooms but it’s not dictated as to which child. Eventually, this area was slightly opened up to the next room but is still tied to the past with its paranormal phenomena. Much like the adjoining room, footsteps and shadows have been reported from this room but, more so, there has been a darkness linked to this room but it seems to stick to the corners and only tends to watch from afar and never really interact with visitors.

While not a lot of time was spent in this area during our initial investigation, we did feel pulled out here and were even called out to come into this area via the Spirit Box. Our Rempod was also quite active in this area and recorded a verbal ‘Hi’ welcoming us. However, aside from those few initial moments, we never recorded any names or were able to continue into intelligent communications.

Our first time here began with some flashlight activity, most of which was setting a baseline and acknowledging that they were with us. This did persist, though, as we opened up the Spirit Box and even the Phasma Box in order to attempt live, verbal communication. The flashlight activity seemed to continue during the Spirit Box moments, almost coinciding with the verbal activity. We were able to gather some simple responses like “Yes” they liked that room and that it was “Mine.” Strangely enough, the investigator who was being searched for earlier in the night sneezed and was asked “Are you okay” and even was considered their “Buddy.”

After a momentary pause, we attempted further communication through the Phasma Box (since everyone’s ears were going numb from the low roar of the Spirit Box). After we asked what we could do for them, we were told to “Turn it down” and that they had a sister as we heard “My sister” whose name was “Emma.” We tried to get a sense of who they were as people and we asked if they were a jokester. We were almost jokingly told “Of course” and received this same response after asking if they liked to play games. Eventually, we were told to “Just leave” as we were drawn back upstairs.

Our last attempt for the evening occurred in this room as we attempted an ESTES Method session after being drawn back to this area with a strong pull. Here, with our last ditch effort, we did manage to come away with some good sensations as we were told they felt “Very” safe (after hearing ‘Safe’ on the Ovilus). We also captured even more names here like “Greg,” “Bobby,” and (once again) “Amanda.” Eventually, after these incredible moments of hearing so many different, and honestly quite surprising, names we were told to “Leave,” “Go,” and finally “Stop” to which we obliged and let them rest after providing so much communication and some possible identities here.

Photos:

  • There were  video stills pulled aside here of the flashlight jumping on.

Recorder 1 – EVP 1:

  • Similar to the earlier Ovilus and flashlight activity, this first section will be shown best as a transcription instead of any evidence separated.
  • At first, we simply asked if they’d like to speak with us in this room and, if so, to turn the light on. The flashlight did turn on at 1:43 then back off at 1:52 after we asked if they could shut it off.
  • We asked if they only visited here and did not live here and the flashlight flickered on then off at 2:19.
  • After asking if they still liked visiting, the light turned on at 2:28 then shut off at 2:43 after we asked them to turn it back out.
  • There was a knocking noise recorded at 4:06 after we asked if anyone was with us, this moment will be pulled out and separated in EVP 1.1.
  • Unprompted, or perhaps just following up with their knock, the light turned on then off at 4:57.
  • After we tried to narrow down their identity, we asked if they were a teenager to which the light turned on at 5:58. and got even brighter at 6:12 after we reiterated the question only to finally shut off.
  • We asked if they would be able to tell us their name and the light turned on at 7:03 then shut off at 8:40.
  • After asking if there was only one person with us, the light shuttered on then back off at 9:27.
  • Continuing this train of thought regarding their personal life, we asked if they had any pets to which the light came to life but shut off quickly at 10:30.
  • Following some silence and no activity we finally asked if they liked to sing and the light turned on at 12:08, quickly shutting back off.
  • As the group discussed the other investigators and their whereabouts, we mentioned that they were upstairs, the light turned on then back off at 13:54 as if they were confirming this for us.
  • With further limited conversation, we asked if they were scared of us to which the light blinked on at 14:54 then turned right off.
  • One of the investigators returned after being upstairs for a period of time and the flashlight shined at 15:58 just as his voice was heard then turned out as he stopped speaking.
  • As they seemed to be interested in communicating again, we asked if they had a favorite book and the light turned on at 17:11 and back off at 17:13.
  • The Ovilus then came to life at this point producing ‘Bishop’ at 18:38 and ‘Nine’ at 18:39.
  • Taking this into consideration we asked if their name was perhaps Bishop and the light turned on at 19:02 signifying a yes response then shut back off.
  • We discussed wanting to speak a different way the flashlight turned on then off at 20:20 prompting us to begin the Spirit Box.

Recorder 2 – EVP 1.1:

  • We pulled out this knocking noise after we asked if anyone was with us. The knocking could be heard at :01 as if a direct response to this question.

Recorder 3 –  Spirit Box 1:

  • Following our group asking the question whether they liked this room, we heard “Yes” at :21 followed by “Mine” at :31.
  • “Sure” was heard at :32 as if confirming this once again.

Recorder 4 – Spirit Box 2:

  • After one of the investigators sneezed, he was asked “Are you okay, buddy?” at :05.

Recorder 5 – Spirit Box 3:

  • Following a long period of lack of communication we asked if they were still here with us and the flashlight turned on at :04 just as we heard the verbal word of “Flashlight” at :18.
  • For some reason, maybe for them not communicating more with us, we heard an apology of “I’m sorry” at :23.
  • At :24, after we had discussed leaving the room, we captured “Don’t” as if they wanted us to stay. With that, we opted to change out the equipment and began the Phasma Box.

Recorder 6 – Phasma Box 1:

  • As we re-adjusted and re-acquainted ourselves we started by asking them what we should do and heard an odd and slightly off-putting question of “What’s wrong with you?” at :04 followed abruptly by “Turn it down” at :10.
  • With the flashlight still standing on the table we asked if they could also turn that on and we heard a confirmation of “Okay” at :44 followed by the light activating.

Recorder 7 – Phasma Box 2:

  • Another longer span of communication occurred through the Phasma Box starting off with music playing quite clearly at :04.
  • We heard another family reference with “My sister” at :10.
  • As that occurred, we asked them if they were a jokester and heard “Of course” at :18.
  • Hearing this in the moment we asked if they liked to play games and heard this same “Of course” repeated at :24.
  • We then heard “Her name’s Emma” at 1:22 as if completing their previous thought of their sister.
  • At 1:25, we heard a very somber saying of “That’s it” as if they were done speaking with us.

Recorder 8 – Phasma Box 3:

  • As one of the investigators’ entered the room and discussed the investigation briefly. We heard “Hey” at :03 after he gently said ‘Hi.’
  • We asked where he should go and heard “Out” at :37 as if he wanted some place else.

Recorder 9 – Phasma Box 4:

  • We asked if we should all go upstairs and heard “Just leave,” quite gruff, at :14.

Recorder 10 – ESTES 1:

  • Early on, we were told that they were in fact with us with “We’re here” at :02 then, after we asked directly if they were Amanda we were told a new name of “Bobby” at :04.

Recorder 11 – ESTES 2:

  • We may have captured further residual energy experience here as the Spirit Box quietly captured a few phrases which make sense together but are out of any type of intelligent conversation.
  • This was not picked up by the listener at the time and began with “Gone” at :24.
  • “Don’t look at me” was captured at :26 with a response of “Yes, ma’am” at :29.
  • Finally, in this clip, the word “Many” was recorded at :43.

Recorder 12 – ESTES 3:

  • We had been asking for their names all night long and did hear “Greg” at :09.
  • At this point, the Ovilus produced the word ‘Safe’ at :16.
  • After we heard “Ask me that” both through the Spirit Box and reported by the listener at :30.
  • We were unsure what they wanted to ask whether it was regarding the name again until we thought about this and asked if they felt safe. At about :43, the flashlight turned on as if saying yes until they verbalized this with “Very” heard after the review at :49.

Recorder 13 – ESTES 4:

  • There was a very strange noise recorded here. It almost sounded as if the flashlight, standing on end, was moving or shaking at :03 until about :09.

Recorder 14 – ESTES 5:

  • After we touched on their safety once more, we asked if they still felt safe as we felt the atmosphere and energy shift. We captured a simple albeit disheartening response of “Get back” at :05 as if they no longer felt safe with us.
  • We followed this by explaining that we want them to feel safe and that we wanted to be friends and heard an odd response of “After” at :19 both in the moment through the listener and the Spirit Box.
  • As we pointed out the cat ball on the floor and told them they could roll it and it would light up we were once more told “After” at :24.
  • We pursued this and asked what they meant by this ‘After’ and were told “Real” at :45 then “Ran” at :51.

Recorder 15 – ESTES 6:

  • An extremely interesting sound was heard in the form of a whistle after we asked if they wanted a turn to play. This can be heard here at :06.

Recorder 16 – ESTES 7:

  • Seeming as though this entity enjoyed the energy of children, we asked if those children who played and spent time in the library could see them. We heard “Want” repeated at :05 and :08. This apparently continued with “Leave” and “Go” at :21 and :24 respectively.

Recorder 17 – ESTES 8:

  • With some ensuing silence and limited activity, we asked if they were afraid of us and if they could show us in some form that they are still with us. At the time the listener heard “I’m here” at :07 and this was confirmed upon review.
  • The Spirit Box continued to produce more verbal communication so lightly that the listener could not hear this as we heard “My name” at :22.
  • This train of thought was interrupted as the flashlight turned on at :43 followed by the name of “Amanda” at 1:07 and 1:18 as if trying to get our attention this time before speaking.
  • We asked if they liked to read and heard “Figures” at 2:13 almost as if they were disappointed followed by “A few years” at 2:15.

Recorder 18 – ESTES 9:

  • As we had some tips before the investigation, we asked if they called this the ‘Big House’ and heard, both the listener and the Spirit Box, “One” at :03.
  • We were then told to ”Stop” at :05 through the review of the Spirit Box but it was too soft during the investigation for the listener to hear.

Recorder 19 – ESTES 10:

  • The name “Bobby” was again recorded through the Spirit Box but not via the listener at :01 followed by “Mama” at :03.
  • We asked if they wanted us to stay and heard “Up” at :30 as if they were trying to draw us back upstairs or simply out of this room.

Recorder 20 – ESTES 11:

  • We explained that we’re only visitors and that we’d be leaving soon and heard “Go out” at :03 followed by “There” at :09 as if they were agreeing with that sentiment and wanted us to leave.

After an extensive review and analysis of both the evidence and personal experiences from our second paranormal investigation of the Andrew Bayne Library in Bellevue, PA we have no doubt that the historic mansion turned library is a home to unexplained phenomena and unexplainable energies. Aside from our gathered evidence and the communication we experienced throughout this night, we were also able to verify our initial thoughts from our first investigation of the library: that there was not enough energy produced during the 2020 COVID pandemic to really give us much paranormal evidence or experiences.

It is our heartfelt belief that, during this second evening spent in the library, we had communication with multiple intelligent energies, came upon some residual energies left over in the old building, and even some other unknown energies which simply seemed to hide and be quite disinterested in speaking or revealing themselves to us. These intelligent energies provided us with communication regarding their favorite rooms, their family, and even names while the overheard residual discussions mainly dealt with events which occurred in the building and seemingly stained the space with arguments and insults. The most predominant, though, were those hiding energies which seemed to step forward activating our devices only to disappear around a corner or another room. We’re still unsure whether they were unsure of us and our intentions or just simply wanted their existence to be recognized.

The intelligent activity helped us determine their names as we captured a few odd names of “Todd,” “Bobby,” “Sarah,” and “Sid” but moreover we recorded the former homeowner “Amanda” come through. We were also able to recognize further intelligence as they questioned “Where is Daniel?” as he was one of the original investigators but unfortunately had to miss this investigation at the last moment. In Amanda’s Bedroom, the energy here actually noticed that one of the investigator’s struggled with a chair as we directly heard “Problem” and “Chair” right after this occurred. With this, we also heard intelligent mathematics as we were told that there were “Three” of them and a total of “Nine” including them inside the building. We were informed that they had “Family” here and that “My sister” was named “Emma” and they even helped guide us to further energy and communication, not to mention they were aware of our equipment. This was all determined by communication of “It’s in the Attic” and “Camera is still there.” These moments were quite clear and did in fact lead to further communication. Perhaps the most heartwarming moment was also an intelligent communication through a combination of both the Ovilus and the ESTES Method. The Ovilus produced the word safe and when we ran with this and asked if they felt safe with us we heard a response of “Very” which also led to the flashlight turning on to let us know they were with us. This intelligence wasn’t simply through verbal speech but, in the Attic, we heard knocking noises in response to our questions of if they were with us.

Residual conversations were mainly overheard and captured in the Attic and the second floor back backroom which we nicknamed the Children’s Reading Room. We recorded “Sir” and “Ridiculous” as if someone were angry or frustrated perhaps with a business deal while the second floor room gave us an odd combination and made us feel as though a woman was upset with a child as we heard a word “Gone” and a phrase of “Don’t look at me” ending with a timid voice defeatedly state “Yes, ma’am.”

The most activity we received, not to mention the majority of our personal feelings and experiences, was through motion activated devices where these energies seemed to come forward, play with the devices, then backing off. The latter moment here varied from them moving to a completely different floor to just pulling back into a side room or hallway. Regardless of their hiding spot, the sensation and gut feeling was the same; they were not interested and kept running away from us. This was evident all throughout the building but most prevalent upstairs in the Attic. This occurred at the start of the night, when we had less investigators in the area, and even toward the end when we initialized the ESTES Method.

Our experience helped guide us for the most part throughout our night but the energies were so strong at some points that the evidence speaks for itself and is mainly thanks to those energies which guided us all throughout the night and the building for that matter. Following the second paranormal investigation of the Andrew Bayne Memorial Library we believe that we came in contact with multiple energies left over from the past including, but definitely not limited to, the gentle but overseeing former home owner of Amanda Bayne. We also believe that we encountered at least two other energies but with the excessive amount of names we were given we were unable to pinpoint who exactly these otherworldly elements were which lingered in the library. What we can confidently state is that there are energies in here who do not like larger amounts of people, particularly adults. They do seem to be interested in the light up devices and tools we had on hand but only to test them out and see what they do. These energies either got scared and hid from these or they simply wanted themselves to be known, remembered, and just not forgotten. To this point, we may never have a clear answer.

We are extremely thankful and humbled by this opportunity to again explore and investigate this old home turned library. With this opportunity, we cannot express our gratitude and thanks to the historical society for not just allowing us permission to access the beautiful structure but also for helping gather funds and continue the upkeep and restoration of this gorgeous, historic structure. We hope that this investigation can shed some light on the strange happenings which occur in the building, still active to this day, and that we can justify some of the reports and sensations which have been discussed by visitors, employees, and guests alike.
