Blennerhassett Hotel – A Shared Experience

Following our involvement with the Appalachian ParaCon and the Blennerhassett Hotel investigation this past year we had the opportunity to keep in touch with some of those who stopped by and met us. We hope we get the chance to investigate with some of these great people and this is highlighted by our communication with Aidan Kosol both during the convention, investigating alongside him, and keeping in touch after the weekend. Aidan took the time to share with us an incredible documentation of his night spent inside the Blennerhassett Hotel which he went to great length in detailing thoroughly. Below are Aidan’s experiences which helped give credence to our own and made us truly wonder who else could be calling the historic hotel an eternal home.

We want to give Aidan a special thank you for not only sharing your experiences but also spending the time to speak with us and even investigate with us during our time in the Blennerhassett Hotel.

Sent to us (Iron City Paranormal) from Aidan Kosol:

The first experience happened right after my time spent with you in the laundry room. Adra, myself, and two other guests were in the manager’s office/storage space. Adra and I were getting very little communication but we both kept looking over at a corner of the room where the closet was located. Both of us felt like something was watching us from that spot. Adra said that the closet had a lot of important documents and other objects inside of it that she had not yet looked through.

We were using an EMF reader which was lighting up anytime I pointed it where the documents were. On our way out of the room one of the other guests was walking behind me. I heard a man’s voice whisper something so I turned around and asked him what he had said. Surprisingly, the man said that he did not say a word. Right after this, as the three of us stood next to the elevator waiting for Adra to turn lights off to the basement, the elevator door suddenly burst open. But there was no one seen inside nor did any of us touch the button. Without another word, the door slammed shut.

The second paranormal experience was a little earlier in the night during the half hour solo session in Room 409. We were using flashlights to ask yes and no questions. I was mainly asking about Wheeling because John had gone there and killed at least one person. But I have another tie to the city as I’m also from there and know the area quite well. I asked about two specific areas that have unknown murders and disappearances. During this time John claimed that he was responsible for both however, while fact checking dates later, I found that one of the deaths happened after he was dead while I was unable to confirm the second date. This leads me to wonder if there was a possible unrecorded death or (the likelier one in my mind) is that no matter what murder is called into question John will take responsibility for it.

Later in the night, around midnight or 1 AM, we were down to the 10-15 non-professional ghost hunters, with about an hour or so left to our night, and were situated in the restaurant behind the faux wall (with slats). Here we believe we were communicating with John. One of us was sitting just outside the archway when one of the other guests and I saw a shadow move across the walkway. The woman sitting on the other side of the archway said she also saw it but no one was walking by at that time.

Shortly after our time here, we moved to the other part of the restaurant because we heard what sounded like sheet pans or pots clanging together. Adra went into the kitchen to see if anything was out of place. At the same time, I and one other person looked over the counter to this area but nothing was out of place. We sat at the tables and communicated with a couple spirits using GhostTube when Adra saw a shadow figure move in the hallway behind the kitchen. As she stood up and attempted to recreate what she saw, two of us noticed that the pilot light for a stove was on. This light was previously off.

After that experience, we continued to communicate with who we believed to be John. He was beckoning us to go upstairs so we did. We went up to Room 409 and continued to talk with two spirits. The first spirit was John while the second was Madeline. Adra explained to us that Madeline was a victim of a suicide in a room on one of the lower floors. This was the first time she had ever gotten responses outside of her room. Shortly after making the revelation that Madeline was with us, we heard a cough from the entrance of the room. There was a woman sitting in a chair near this location and she claimed that she wasn’t the source of the cough. She claimed that it came from a corner of the room where no one was currently located. John tried to get us to go upstairs into the bedroom but when Adra and I did, we got very few responses from John.

At that point it was the end of the ghost hunt and we all went back to our rooms.

While we were in our room we received interesting responses on the GhostTube such as the word “coffin.” This occurred a few times and ultimately led to a phantom cough. With that, we determined that Madeline was saying “coughing” and not “coffin.”

One last note, an experience which actually occurred toward the beginning of the night when we were with Scott. We were able to talk with the Chancellor using Dowsing Rods and confirmed that he wants John out of the Blennerhassett. However, John is stronger than him and refuses to leave.
