A Few Experiences
By Kelley Bittner
So I’ve actually had a few experiences that really stand out to me.
The first was this past summer in Gettysburg. We were walking through the National Cemetery and all of a sudden, out of nowhere I felt very sad and sick at the same time. This feeling was overpowering and I just needed to sit for a while to gather myself. It’s hard to explain the feelings that overcame me but it’s as if I felt all of those soldiers pain and grief at the exact same time. Needless to say, I got out of that area as quickly as I could.
Where I grew up, in Allison Park, PA, my family and I visited the Depreciation Lands museum nearby regularly. This museum was so popular that our girl scout troop would even stay the night on occasion. However, it was right next to a cemetery. The first time I saw something I thought I was half asleep. There were shadows that would move across the open yard of the cemetery. The next time I spotted these shadows, I knew I was awake – it was the middle of the day! At that exact moment, I felt cold and just a feeling as if I was being watched. Even though I had wonderful times there, I refuse to go back.
